Estanda, together with Beasain Town Council and the Provincial Council is working on the ‘District Heating’ collaboration project, aimed at using the waste heat from the company’s melting furnaces to heat the facilities of the Antzizar sports centre.
The heat emitted by the furnaces will be reused in the sports facilities to heat the air conditioning and swimming pools and in the hot water circuit. The project will save energy, recovering 348 MWh per year, achieving a 60% saving in the municipal facilities and reducing 43 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
The works will start this summer, taking advantage of the company’s holiday break, in order to have as little impact as possible on its operations.
