ESTANDA´s five competitive advantages
- We are a foundry specialising in the manufacture and machining of high-performance steel and alloys with over 65 years´ know-how behind us.
- Our presence in more than 70 countries worldwide guarantees our international recognition.
- We use state-of-the-art technologies and continuous innovation in our processes, products and services.
ESTANDA started its activity in 1953 with basic steel moulding, melting and casting processes. However, in a few short years, we incorporated new manufacturing processes and started to add different industrial sectors to work for. The next stage saw us drive our international expansion through to the present day, with presence in more than 70 countries in five continents.
This important track record has been possible thanks to the values that have featured throughout our history. On the one hand, continuous improvement, professionalism and innovation have allowed our products to attain the most demanding quality standards. On the other hand, our commitment, boldness and international vocation have enabled us to gain a strong presence in other countries´ markets.
All this has led us to be a wholly modern and highly automated foundry today, specialised in the manufacture and machining of steel and high-performance alloys, offering innovative solutions in various industrial sectors.

Our competitive advantages include our know-how, international vocation, quality, innovation and leadership.
1. Know-how
Throughout our history spanning over 65 years, we have built up a unique know-how in different sectors.
Our main strengths are our knowledge of the cement and mining, railway and automotive-heavy vehicle and machinery industries, together with a personalised customer service and the technical and sales support that we are able to offer.
We offer technical services to improve product design and metallurgy, we strive for process optimisation, and we carry out assembly and commissioning monitoring. All this, while adapting to each client´s and project´s most demanding requirements.
2. International vocation
Since the outset, we have been active agents worldwide, as we are part of an industry, namely the casting industry, in which international clients are extremely frequent. In this regard, we have consolidated and professionalised our operations. Thanks to an aligned business strategy and the strong development of a foreign network, we have made important gains in other markets, with 90% of our turnover coming from sales in more than 70 countries in the five continents.
These important export figures, bearing in mind the complexities involved in each country´s market, have led to the development of specialised expertise on the part of our professionals with regard to logistics, means of payment, etc. This international expertise is applied in all our projects.
3. Quality
ESTANDA has a Management Team and a Quality Department that permeates the whole organisation and the whole manufactured product range. This department manages quality standards and plans, as well as the obtaining and approval of specific certifications required by clients.
ESTANDA currently boasts the following certifications:
- ISO 9001 Quality Management.
- ISO 14001 Environmental Management.
- ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety.
- HPQ Deutsche Bahn and ISO/TS 22163 (IRIS), both specific to the railway industry.
On the other hand, in keeping with our aim of providing a top-quality service, we are currently immersed in an investment and continuous improvement programme, as well as promoting corporate social responsibility, placing a special emphasis on sustainability issues.
4. Innovation
We use state-of-the-art technologies and continuous innovation in our processes, products and services. Client project requirements are analysed in detail using the most advanced technologies in parts design and casting simulation processes. This facilitates a reduction of the total time dedicated to the manufacture and dispatch of parts to clients.
In addition, we have modern and highly automated facilities, which enables us to provide a fast and optimum quality delivery service. The entire molten steel process is integrated at our three manufacture centres, geographically located very close to each other around Beasain, Gipuzkoa: moulding, melting and casting, demoulding, shot blasting, deburring, thermal treatments, machining and final control.
5. Leadership
The sum of all our competitive advantages has resulted in improved brand awareness and image in specific markets.
A notable example is the leadership achieved in the manufacture of brake discs for high-speed trains, a safety product of technological complexity, which we have been manufacturing for over 30 years and in which we have acquired a specific know-how related to the product and its manufacture. As a result, we have become the main supplier of steel brakes to Knorr-Bremse, the world leader in braking solutions for trains and lorries.
This experience, accompanied by a strategy that has involved significant investments in technology and optimisation of facilities, has enabled us to consolidate our position as market leaders.
